Finale!

Please forgive me, for I came down with a bit of a cold this weekend. I have more to show you of what I accomplished, but I'll save that for later this week.
This is Tammy's response to the challenge of 3 ribbon: I love that Basic Grey paper! The flower is so neat in real life too. After she finished, I challenged her to do up a canvas. I really wanted to do one too, but it just didn't work out. The photos don't do it justice. She misted, and painted over masks, made beautiful butterflies and flowers. Once she has a family photo on there, it will be gorgeous!
So if you played along with us this weekend, thanx so much. I really had fun and can't wait til next time. Hopefully I won't have a cold!
See you guys all again soon!

We're back with more!

Here's what we've come up with for the fabric challenge! My momma used some burlap right in the center of her layouts.
I stamped the orange circles on fabric bandage tape and added it to my layout

Tammjy used fabric on the artisian shapes and the grey felt square to add texture to her printers tray.
Since we've had no comments, we're keeping the draw open, so you still have a chance to win! :)
The next challenge?? Three types of ribbon on your layout.
~R.A.T. and Theresa has now joined us :) at least for a little while...

Next challenge

Here are the results of our sewing challenge:
My mom did this great one of the rye field. She made some french knots and back stitched the stems of the stamp right onto her layout. She pre-punched her holes with a paper piercer.

This looks so cool in real life, the pictures don't do it justice.
Tammy also stamped her title on her canvas cover and stitched the letters. There's a faint outline of the stamp that gives a beautiful shadow effect.
And my version? To show you how simple it can be, I sewed on some buttons. Easy peasy and quick!

Up next is another challenge: Fabric!! On your layout, on your project, cards, whatever, surprise us! And don't forget to post below to enter your name to win a fabulous scrappy prize! We can't wait to hear from you!!
~T.A.R.

***Prize Giveaway!***

We're making a happy scrappy mess, laughing, scrapping, eating, drinking, scrapping, brainstorming, just having a great Saturday afternoon. And we want to share this with you.

The comment section is open, and we love hearing from you. Tell us your favourite scrappy technique, and will enter your name into a draw for a fun scrappy prize. I saw it, I drooled over it, and I think you'll love it too. This contest is open until 4:30 today (Sat. Sept.25)

Stay tuned, cause we have more give-aways and challenges planned!
~T. R. A. :)
YOU CAN ALL MAKE COMMENTS NOW, CHANGED SETTINGS SO ANOYMOUS IS OK NOW TOO!
So here we are after scrapping til 3 in the morning, and talking til 4! Here's the results of last nights challenge.
Mom did a layout of one her favourite subjects, me! LOL She misted the background with walnut ink. She also inked her chipboard letters, and once dry, stamped on them too.
Tammy laid down chipboard swirls, punched butterflies, and a Tim Holtz clock mask onto her canvas pages from Maya Road. Now she did cut open the pockets to make them functional. And once dry, she stamped a Tim Holtz verse stamp, that unfortunately didn't photograph well.
And me? Well, I laid down a mask onto cream cardstock, and misted around it.

They are all different and beautiful!!! We had such a great time working on all this fun stuff lastnite!!!

Here is your first challenge for today!!!
You must stitch on your project...be creative..see ya soon

the lines have been drawn...

Scrapping is well underway, and my mom and Tammy have already drawn lines across the table!!
So first challenge of the night! Share your space with someone!! LOL especially with someone who doesn't like to share back!

Second one! Use sprays and screens. Make your own screen, use one you have, spray over chipboard, make a negative effect. Doesn't matter. Just grab some fun stuff and spray away!
Remember, if you're in Taber, stop by, and visit!! If you're in Lethbridge, stop by the store tomorrow to take advantage of the last day of the bag sale!!
See you in a bit!
~T and R! (and my mom too!(anita))

Hola!

Oh my! We are down in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I am taking care of Kari. I promise to bring her home tonight safe and sound (and sober!).

We have had the most amazing time so far - the hotel is absolutely beautiful. I know Kari has been running around (ok ok hobbling) taking a ton of photos all over the place. We went downtown to the Malacon last Sunday and did a bit of shopping, had some beer, got caught in a huge storm and danced in the rain. We went on the Pirate tour last Monday. Had a blast and laughed a ton (if you are ever here, do it!). The rest of the week has been suntanning, swimming and reading (or colouring in Karis case - just ask her!).

We have had a ton of laughs
We have had a ton of memories.
We have had a ton of great times.

All that, and I still look forward to coming home tonight and back to reality.... Kari is back in the store tomorrow. Stop by, say hi and get in on the last day of the Bag Sale :)

almost the weekend...

The weekend is almost here!! Got plans?? Tammy is coming over to my house for a weekend of scrapping! We plan on having a few challenges for you at home, so check in regularly! It's not Mexico, but it is scrapping! If you live in Taber, give me a shout out, stop by and visit with us for a bit!

So I wanted to show you another layout that I completed not long ago. I traced around chipboard letters for the title, letting them overlap slightly. I stamped little butterflies, dragonflies, and flowers (from Maya Road) onto bandage tape. I love that artisan shape that I cut out of polka dot paper too. Nothing fancy, but I hope you look forward to scrapping this weekend, I know I am!

See you all again soon!

A year of challenges

lol, K, obviously I jinxed myself. Sorry, totally slept in this morning. But! I'm here! And I have a new challenge!!So here you are! Make a layout WITHOUT USING PATTERNED PAPER!! Yep! You can do it! This one used Tim Holtz' tissue tape, some old rub-ons, a tag that's been stamped and some buttons. That tape, what can I say? I've used so much of it lately!! The stamps on the tag are 2 different ones, a grunge and a swirly stamp as well. Some sprayed ink too. Easy stuff, really.

Most everything shown can be picked up at the store. There's a sale going on while Kari's away. Just saying. lol This layout isn't that hard to duplicate either. :) I have a thing for kraft cardstock too, at the moment. Love it paired up with the red. It suits me.
So go on! Have fun, see you soon!

Ferris wheel photos

So it occured to me the other day that I had photos I wanted to show you, and haven't yet. Remember when I was at Cornfest and I said I took ferris wheel pictures and they turned out kinda cool? and I wanted to show you? Well, my bad that I haven't yet.Seriously, they're so cool. I had to use a tripod. The exposure time itself isn't that long, like maybe 5 seconds? But oh! The lights!
and then I realized I could move my lens, and zoom in and out while it was "filming" the picture.
These pictures are full of awesome, don't you think?
This one is my favorite of them all, that star shape, too cool! I hope to be back tomorrow morning with a challenge for you. Cross your fingers I don't sleep in! lol

Year of Challenges

I appologize for the delay of this challenge...it's been one of those weeks!

So how brave are you? I think it's time we challenged you to scrap about someone very very close to you...YOU! I would like to see a layout on your hobbies, be it scrapbooking itself, photography, knitting, painting, reading, sports, bird watching, rock climbing, whatever it is you do, scrap it!
If you and I have ever met, you probably already know that I love to have a camera squashed up to my face. I'm far more comfortable behind it than in front of it. I will take any opportunity to whip out my camera, and have and will, take 300 photos of the EXACT. SAME. THING. *grin* It just makes me happy.
So about a month ago, on a day when the sun actually shone this summer, I was out in the rye field taking pics of my mom and dad and daughter, and my mom got these photos of me. And the only one I was aware of her taking is when I'm looking at the camera. I get a little focused sometimes, lol.The Basic Grey paper couldn't have been more perfect to use. Love that Tim Holtz tissue tape. And see this cute little chick brad (from Basic Grey) How cute is that??

This challenge doesn't have to be complicated, but just try it! Have fun! See you again soon!

5 Year of Challenges (a small catch up for you!)

Here are 5 challenges for you my friends. I hope you are able to catch up and play along with us. We should be back up to date shortly. I havent scrapbooked in months! I looked through the layouts I have sitting on my desk and scanned them in tonight (finally!) and tried to come up with some fun challenges for ya :)

Challenge 1 - Use another language on your layout. On this layout of Chinatown in San Francisco, I used Chinese rubons (or so the package said...) for the embellishments.
Challenge 2 - This one is a 2 part challenge. First, use a large photo 8x12 or 8x10. Second, pop up a smaller detailed photo on the larger one. On the layout below, I use a large overview photo of the park and ball game we were watching and cropped down a photo of the batter and popped it up on it.

Challenge 3 - Scrapbook a Canadian vacation that you have taken in the past few years (a "stay"cation if you will). Below, I scrapbooked Peggy's Cove out in Nova Scotia. It was very touristy, but so pretty (even on the foggy, cloudy day).

Challenge 4 - Use circle rings on your layout. I used the EK Circle cutter that Kari has in the back room at Embellished to cut my rings. Amazing and oh so easy to use.

Challenge 5 - Stamp on a chipboard shape, letter, embellishment. On the PEI layout below, I painted the chipboard swirl and the letters and then stamped on with Stazon ink to ensure it didnt smudge or rub off.

I hope if you click on the layouts they will enlarge (I cant promise with the technical difficulties we have been having lately lol).

Have a safe rest of your weekend. Hopefully we will be caught up soon! Thanks for your patience. We sure do appreciate it :)

A year of challenges - Update

Hey everyone!
Well first off, I need to appologize to you all regarding our Year of Challenges. We havent forgotten them! We had issues with our old blog in July and havent been able to catch up since.

But that is being rectified! We owe you 9 (yes NINE!) challenges dated back from July 5. Ronni has posted 2 over the past few days for us (thanks girl!). We are working on getting the other 7 out to you ASAP so that you can catch up to be current. You may get a few in one day as we have them done.

Keep your eyes out. Hopefully soon we will be back on track for you :)

** Watch the store for new layout kits coming soon.

** Dont miss out on the Croptacular in October! Space is limited. Fun challenges, games and awesome goodie bags.

** Sept kit is still delayed due to shipping of the new product....we all hope it arrives soon :)

A year of challenges.....

Here's your latest challenge my scrappy peeps! Use cork on a layout! And this isn't a hard challenge at all, cause there are some great cork accents that you can pick up at the store. I'm pretty sure they're by Pink Paislee (Kari, or anyone, let me know if I'm wrong on that) I can see the packaging in my head, but not quite sure of the brand, not that it matters!! See that cute bee accent? Cork. Yep. Looks cute too doesn't it?
Here's a better picture... ^
I've used up some of the new Tim Holtz tissue tape. And some of his stamps on some manilla tags punched into circles. An older 6x6 sheet of 7 Gypsies paper. Plain 'ol white paint on the background, painted with a (old) credit card. Some ink splatters. Staples. Letter stickers from Jilly Bean. A date transparency from My Little Yellow Bicycle. You know, nothing too fancy, but kinda fun.

So, off with you to scrap with cork. It's fun. Best of all, it's easy. :)
See you again soon! ~RonniH.

Hello

I dropped some new projects off at the store this afternoon. Unfortunately, I think the store's closed until Tuesday for the long weekend, so you'll have to wait until then to see all of the new stuff I dropped off. :) Can you wait that long? No? How about a little preview then? LOLYou can't really tell in the picture of my layout, but I put some red streaks in my daughter's hair earlier this summer. Her and I went to visit my sister, and I got some cute photos of her.

That Tim Holtz photo negative ribbon? Yeah, on my second roll already. Love that stuff, have used it over and over and over. I've seen red and white twisted twine all over the Internet scrappy sites lately. I don't have any, but I do have red string, and white string, and when twisted together, it looks like the twine I've been coveting. :)

I *heart* my butterfly punch too. I tried out my newest Tim Holtz stamps on a packing tag, and punched out the butterfly. A little bling for the body's center, and it's so cute!! And yup, what's one of my layouts without buttons?See this metal bookplate? I've been hoarding it since Kari opened her store. It was one of the first purchases I made from her. It's from Basic Grey...not sure if they're still available or not. There were several in the package, and I have one left. One. I covet the silliest things, really. Cause it really does look better when I've used it on a page, rather than letting it collect dust on my scrappy table.
Ok, that's it for now. Enjoy. Have a good weekend. See ya soon!
~RonniH.
and don't forget to check out my stuff at the store next week! LOL
