A year of Challenges

I found this layout on Studio Calico's blog the other day, and I love it. I love the design, I love the background, everything. But most especially, I love the little pictures.
So your challenge today is to use little pictures. For my layout, I finally succumbed to my daughter's begging to having our photos taken at the photo booth in the Park Place mall. She's been asking for like, forever, to do that with me. I have allowed her and her friends to waste $4.00 on little pictures in the past, but I never wanted to. She talked me into it this summer, and I don't know why I hesitated for so long. It was pretty fun! And in true tradition, I got two pictures to keep, and so did she.
I was really inspired by much of the layout. I love the stars. Love the tag. So I cut out some stars out of cardstock, and traced around them with black ink, and added some buttons. I stamped a Tim Holtz quote onto the tag, and inked the edges. Added some 7 gypsies stamp sayings to it too.
My favourite part was finding little buttons from Basic Grey in my stash that matched nearly every hue found on the patterned paper. Buttons always make me smile, and I'll use any excuse to use them.So have fun with your little picture challenge. It doesn't have to be photo booth pictures, by the way. Wallet size ones will work, or crop a larger picture to something that will work. Detail shots are always a favourite of mine.
Have a good day, have fun scrapping! ~RonniH.

Summer's ending

I'm writing this Sunday morning, and I can't believe it's raining outside. The weather this weekend, while not blistering hot, was still warm enough to enjoy all that Cornfest had to offer. I took my youngest down on Thursday night where she could ride all the rides she wanted, and again on Friday after work, and then again, all day yesterday. I have some very cool ferris wheel pictures to show you later, and some (kinda cool) firework photos too.
I love taking photos at the fair. I stumbled across a website awhile ago, where a couple had a photo shoot done at the Calgary Stampede, and I think I'd love to try something like that too. There are so many bright colours, and sounds and smells... I love to try to capture the atmosphere. And people watching is so much fun!
There were so many people this year... I'm surprised sometimes by the crowds. And cell service is sometimes a little spotty too. It's hard to keep track of the kids, but they were really good this year about checking in.
I actually went on only one ride myself, the giant slide with my nephew, Jack. Too scary for old auntie to do it more than once, I'm afraid. My dad laughed and laughed when he told me about the faces I was making. lolMy little bean had an orientation on Friday, but her first official first day is Monday. Grade 6, and I'm still amazed at how fast time is flying. She's halfway done her schooling. And yet when I ask her what she learned at school, the answer is always, nothing. lol, so why am I sending her?
So I'm hoping to have more photos of some of the scrappy stuff I've done in the last little while to show you later. If you have kids going back to school, don't forget to take photos of their first day! We'll chat again soon!

Summer's almost over!

So it felt like summer just got here, and now it's on it's way out. Did you get to do everything you wanted to? I didn't, but I still had fun. I took my youngest daughter swimming outside as often as I could, we slept in a tent in the backyard, and slept in as often as we could.

We also canned some peaches that my mom got from the fruit truck. It's so much work, canning, but I love the end results and the time I spend with my mom. My job was to peel the peaches...such a thankless job. But mom got stuck filling the jars, which is hot and sticky work too.Do you do any canning? We're hoping to do pickles later. And salsa. And creamed corn (even though that's not really canning, that's freezing) If you do, do you take pictures of the process? Saved the recipe for future generations? Take pictures too, if it doesn't turn out as planned. This time, one of the jars broke, flipped right over in the canner! It wasn't as hot as it has been in years past, but it still was lots of work! Look at me here, all Cinderella-like! LOL

Anyways, hopefully the transition from summer to fall goes very very slowly, and the cool weather they're calling for this weekend will just be a small hiccup, and not that bad. See you again soon!

I really am a summer kinda girl. I love the hot weather. It doesn't feel to me like this has been a very warm summer at all, even though I heard on the radio the other day it was to be the hottest, driest summer on record. They must have been talking out east? I haven't really had the fans on, or even run the air conditioning in the car more than once or twice. Maybe I'm just that cold blooded that the heat makes me feel normal. lol
Anyways, I wanted to show you quickly a few quick pictures I took of a photo shoot of my youngest daughter and my parents last week. The rye field was amazing, and the lighting was perfect. I can't wait to find some time this weekend to scrap these pictures, and the other 150 I took that day.

See you again soon!~RonniH.

Scraplifting yourself

Ever try scrap lifting a design of your own? I did just the other day, have a look...

Remember this layout (above) that I showed you the other day? Well I liked it so much, I tried using the same basic design again, but a little different. The second time, I gave it a quarter turn, and added a few more photos.

I also changed the placement of the buttons, and this time, sewed through my title. I didn't have any journalling, allowing the title to speak for itself. Last time, on the Awesome layout, my artisan shape was cut out of patterned paper, this time, I cut it out of cardstock.

These are all very subtle difference, and there are a few more that I did, that I haven't mentioned, but they all make for a unique layout. I hope you give this a try soon!
Hope you all have a good weekend, and we'll chat again soon!

happy summer!!!!

Hi everyone , I hope that the summer has been keeping u all well. Can u believe the kids go back to school in just 3 weeks:):):)

Here is a little something ive been working on. The pics were from last summer when my nieces came to visit. I was waiting for the perfect paper and cosmo cricket's "DeLovely" is just that.
I built this whole mini album, I had a binder assembly(thanks kari) and the pages, with some chipboard i made the pages that i had fit the binder and cut some 12x12 acrylic to make the covers. You can see this mini album in the store, its called "Summer Hats"

Enjoy!!!

It's August already!

So I hope your summer is going well, and you're finding lots of scrappy time. Me? Not as much as I would like, but that is always true. I've been taking as many pictures as I can, and if you're a friend of mine on Facebook, I'm sure you've seen the ones I've recently taken of my nephews. I've been thinking it's time to go out shooting again, just I should do some house work first. So here's a little of what I have been working on.
I love those Tim Holtz number and butterfly stamps. And I can't seem to do any layouts without flicking ink or mists all over the place. Yummy buttons, too.My title I think is kind of fun. No one said it has to all be the same colour, and it adds to the meaning of it. A play on words is always fun!Hope you're a little inspired, and I hope too that you can double click the photos to see them larger.
