Creative Cropping Part 2

Use a foreground element when composing a landscape picture. The foreground element gives the viewer a reference point from which to view the main scene. This technique works when composing a picture of a person also. Makes the picture more personal.
A tall item on either left or right side of landscape is an example of a foreground element. You can crop part of it out or most of it, depending on the picture but still maintains a point of reference.

Before you press the shutter, scan the edges of the camera viewfinder to see if there are any distracting objects. These can't always be cropped out and can spoil a nicely composed picture.

Next week learn how to make water stand still or if moving, look like silk.

Creative Cropping

I am busy taking pictures and have wanted to learn more about creative cropping for sometime now. I have some great articles that I am posting tidbits from. If I find a good site I will post it on the blog.

Here goes:

Cropping goes hand in hand with composition. If you have a great photograph and it is cropped poorly, this takes away from the composed photograph.

We hear the word composition all the time and many of you already know this. I will start with the basic rules of composition to get the best camera exposure:

Rule of thirds is very important. Experts tell us that we should never place our subject in the middle/center of the photograph. In general this is a good rule, but there are times when you can place subject in the middle. This holds true in some landscape pictures when we want our eye drawn to the subject matter in the background. In general, for good composition, use the rule of thirds. Imagine a tic-tac-toe grid over your image in the viewfinder. Place your subject wherever the lines intersect.

Place subject off-center: when you take a picture of your subject off-center, you are giving the viewer the opportunity to scan the picture for other interesting elements. When your subject is in the absolute center of the frame. the viewer gets stuck on the subject. I found this quite interesting and true. Take a look at your photos and pick out pictures that have the subject dead center and pictures that subject is away from the center. Surprising isn't it!

I went to the zoo just the other week....

It's Carolyn and I'm back again, thought I would let you know about my adventure recently to the Calgary zoo. It was a beautiful day - the weather couldn’t have been any better and it has been 8 years since the last time we went. We got to see many of the animals and of course the prehistoric park. On the drive there everyone is excited and singing different songs - the most common one is:

We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo.

Not for my husband he likes the David Wilcox version and sings it even on days we aren't going to the zoo:

I went to the zoo
Just the other week
Saw the kangaroo
Had a talk with the chimpanzee
He said, "Hey brother, if you want a thing that's hip. Do the bearcat."

Do you have songs that you and your family sing on the way to the zoo or on vacations that everyone joins in and has fun with? Have you ever scrapbooked the title of a song to incorporate with your layout? Or the lyrics even?

If you haven't been to the zoo for awhile it’s a great way to spend the day - just watch out for the peacocks as they seem to have free reign everywhere and are not afraid to get close to you especially if there is food nearby looking forward to scrapping the pictures soon! Probably at the Croptacular October 21, 22 and 23. Hope to see you there!!

My apologies for the large space between pictures. I am still learning how to post to the blog. Practice makes perfect doesn't it?? Hope everyone is having a great fall day. Get your camera out and ready as fall colors will soon be in full array and they make wonderful pictures to scrapbook.

Try some creative cropping for a different look. Trim out all the non-essentials in your picture. There are so many creative ways to crop a picture. I will post some of these ideas to the blog next week. Stay tuned.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year"……..

Every year when the Staples commercial starts playing for back to school supplies I start giggling and realize it’s the time to get everything organized and ready once again.

Get the school supply list out and sort through what leftovers we have from the year before we can "reuse". Then heading to the stores to try and find all the "new" supplies, including the 3 boxes of Kleenex to share with the class and the 12x18 sketch book. Some of the items are not so easy to find and you can spend so much time looking for them.

Then comes the school clothes shopping, making sure that you have not 1 but 3 pairs of runners. You have to have the daily walking to school shoes, the non-skid non-marking gym runners for phys-ed and then the spare pair in your locker in case the ones you wear everyday to school get dirty.
I don't mind but it does get a bit out of hand, especially since children usually grow and those 3 pairs alone may not make it through the whole school year. Then the different colored tshirts for the different team color days. Do you know how hard it is to find a plain purple tshirt for a boy?
What happened to those days where you had a pencil case, notebook, binder and 1 pair of runners and another pair of shoes? We never had to bring in Kleenex for the whole class either you used your sleeve or went to the bathroom and used toilet paper.

Well the kids are back to school once again and most motorists are obeying the school ground zone speed limits, the alarms are going off and most of the time everyone is getting up and ready when they need to. The weather has been exceptionally nice which has been so fortunate.
I always take a first day of school picture and this year I forgot until after school that day. My son was accommodating and did the posing for me. I love scrapbooking that picture and seeing how much they have changed and grown from the year before. Do you take pictures of your children on the first day of school? If so, do you do a different layout every year or just put the pictures next to the year before?

Design Team Update

It is with sadness that we have to announce that our new design team additions decided not to continue on with their postions. Unfortunetly with the summer months it has been hard to find replacements for them.

We decided to give our other two designers a well deserved break. However they don't listen very well and have been dropping off new layout ideas at the store for display. We will have pictures up on the blog over the next few weeks.

We appoligize for not announcing this sooner, summer is always a crazy time for all. Keep your eyes on the blog for new ideas to start popping up. We appreciate all of our customers support & you are truly all very important to us.

So would you like to see more of the photos I took in Waterton?
I love black and white photos, there's something about them that leave so much to the imagination. I like the timeless quality of them. And most (if not all) digital cameras that are made make it easy to take b&w. My Olympus takes that feature, and takes it one step further with a grainy film option. You don't get that on your Canon, my Dear Boyfriend. :) I love the way the Prince of Wales hotel looks kinda spooky. The clouds were amazing that day, probably because of all the wind...
So that's what I got for now, hope I inspired you! I have some really cool pictures of a bear to show you later too! Enjoy the rest of the day!

If you're my friend on facebook, then I'm sorry, you've seen these pictures before. If you're not my friend on facebook, why not? Lol. I thought I'd just stop over here quick and show you some of my favourite pictures I got last weekend when I was in Waterton with my boyfriend. It was just a day trip, but it's my favourite place in the world to go. I love the mountains, the walking trails, all the tourists, the candy store, the flora and fauna that are there to take photos of, and did I mention the candy store??I can and have spent all day just taking pictures, and I can't wait to go again next weekend. I plan on a mini-scrapbook of my favourite places, and lots of these photos will be in it. So far, so good, no rain today, right? Right?
While the sun is shining (at least for the moment), get out there and take some photos of all the flowers. Get down right low, get in close, just get out there and see what you can capture.
I don't know if these are weeds or not, but they're always a sure sign of spring. I've also heard you can eat them... don't unless you know for sure, but I thought I read somewhere you can. Anyone know?

I got right down on my belly for this shot. Luckily the grass was (mostly) dry.Bleeding hearts are one of my favourites. The bright pink colours are so *happy*!

Design Team Announcement!

Sorry for the delay ladies, but we are sure you won't be disappointed!

We have decided to add 2 designers to our team. Each designer will take on part time positions, so you will have double the fun & inspiration will not be lacking.

Our first lady we would like to introduce is Flo. Flo is new to the area & has been scrapbooking for 5 years, she comes to us from Ontario & she is very excited to join our team. One of Flo's first creations is now in store, which is a definite must see! We have posted a few pictures on facebook & will be sure to post them on here as well for your viewing. In honour of the summer that was...

I wonder if summer will ever arrive? Dont get me wrong. I am not a fan of the heat, sun, bugs, fresh air....you know all those things that go along with the most loved season. But I am kinda getting tired of the grey and blah weather.

After a rainy long weekend here, I just puttered around the house. I scanned in a few layouts I recently completed. Thought I would share here with you since it has been awhile since my last share.

We spent a lot of time last summer (on the nice days) at the waterpark on the Westside with our friend and her kids. Kbear also spent a week at the lake with the family (yup, there are a few more layouts to be completed on that trip!).

WOW oh wow! I can not believe this place! It is amazing. I have taken over 1200 photos. I have fed kangaroos. I snorkelled on the Great Barrier Reef. I have visited 3 cities in 3 areas and have a 4th tomorrow. I watched Little Penguins return home and safely walk the beach back to their burrows on Phillip Island. I held a KOALA today!

I have taken over 1200 photos so far this week! I can not wait to scrapbook Australia!

I am sorry I missed the crop this weekend. I hear you guys had a great time.

I loved this kit, and found it easy to create so many things. My card is adorable (if I do say so myself, lol) Just some leftover cardstock and patterned paper, and a little lace thrown in for fun!
And this last one... LOVED LOVED LOVED the polka dot patterned paper. I matted Bob's pic on brown c/s, and added that to bits and pieces of patterned paper. Punched out some hearts and butterflies. The journal block in the one sheet of patterned paper made for an excellent title. I cut out some of the flowers and pop dotted them in the top left corner too. Fun stuff, no?

And speaking of fun stuff!!! Oh! My! Gosh! I stopped in at Embellished last night! Have you seen the new Tim Holtz stuff??! I loved it all! I fondled it all! I bought a lot of it! There were bingo chip numbers! And new letter stickers! And mixed media stickers! Binder rings!Just drool worthy fun stuff! I'm thinking I want some of the pen nibs and the pocket watch, but alas! I had to get my taxes done. *sad face* Lol

Anyways, enjoy the winter wonderland that is spring today. I'm hoping to go off on a shooting spree of the photographic kind today, if I don't have to be up to my knees in slush. See you again soon, cause I can't wait to show you what I want to do with that new Timmy stuff!

We are searching for 1-2 talented Design Team Members to add to our team. If you consider yourself to be creative, team oriented, like to think outside the box and want to share your ideas, WE WANT YOU! Send 3-5 recent projects that best represent your usual style to ememories@telus.net

Please include the following:
·Full name, address & phone number
·A link to your online gallery or blog (if you have one)
·Why you would like to be part of the team
·Please make sure your name is in the file title - such as “janesmithChristmas2010.jpg”

Expectations of a Design Team Member:
·You must be active on our blog (as per schedule 1-2 weeks per month, min 3 posts per week) with photos, layouts, challenges (examples required), etc
·Projects made with your monthly kit must be scanned at high resolution and posted to the blog on your week after reveal dates (high quality photos are acceptable). They must also be dropped off at the store for display by the due date (usually 1 week prior to reveal).
·Participate in crops by visiting with croppers, sharing ideas, coming up with challenges/themes (Croptoberfest and National Scrapbook Day) or come and scrapbook with us (based on space availability)
·Promote the store to friends and family

Compensation:
Most months you will receive a kit valued at over $20. You may also receive new product to work with through your term when it arrives in the store to create layouts, cards or altered items (the sky is the limit!). These will be displayed in the store to give others inspiration, and once store display is done you will receive all your items back to keep (except cards). All design team will also receive membership pricing on classes, and a discount on regular price product (excluding cardstock... already reduced for all, only 60cents)

The position will be for a 3 month trial at which point both parties may chose to terminate. After the term will last for another 3 months at which point Design Team members will have to reapply for their position

Please apply by May 1, 2011 at midnight MST.

More kit...

Hey my scrappy friends, how are ya'll today? Ready to see more of my kit stuff?
With this one, I inked the edges of the red c/s, and cut an artsian shape out of the numbered patterned paper. I painted the dots with black paint, and adhered them randomly. Using some stickles, I highlighted the "one" on the patterned paper. I matted the picture of the birthday balloons on black c/s, and added some buttons (my stash) to the corners. A bow and a stapled journal box detailing my nephew's first b-day, and it was done. :)
This one too, is one of my favourites, even though it's relatively simple. Some cut out squares (that I stamped on and added buttons to from my stash), a rectangle, and a photo matted on blue c/s are draw your eye to the photo. The chipboard key is also from my stash, and I heat embossed it with gold, and inked it up a bit. I loved the yellow ribbon, but originally it was too wide to tie around the end of the key, so I trimmed a little piece, and used that. I had a leftover piece of patterned paper that I had punched butterflies from, and liked it, and added it. I stamped on the journalling, sorry it's so faint to read! It says: You're just my type. (even if you do shoot canon) I'm always teasing Bob about our camera choices. I'm an Olympus girl in love with a Canon boy. Lol. Maybe I'll be able to convert him one day. Lol.

Looks like spring is finally coming, doesn't it? About time! Lol!

Are you curious to see what I did with this kit? It honestly was one of my very favourite set of papers that we've had to date. I made so much with it! For this page of my daughter, I cut out a scalloped border out of black cardstock, and added it to the right side, topped with some red buttons (my stash). I covered some of the circles with blue cardstock, and inked the edges. A few bows of the red ribbon finished them nicely. I did up my title from my stash of letter stickers, and cut out a journal box from the patterned paper. Simple, but I love it!
This sweet little girl is my boyfriend's niece, Taylor. Isn't she cute? I matted her photo on black cardstock with a small small border, and then matted that on the brown. I made the best bowtie I've ever made in my life and tied it onto the matting. I punched out some photo corners and some butterflies, and dazzled them up with some pearls (my stash). I used some Tim Holtz letters, and traced them and cut them out. I used one of the ticket stubs under the title to add a little interest and journaled right onto the page.

So there's the first bit of my take on the kit, more to follow this week!

I really hope the weather man is playing a joke on us, cause i don't think i can stand more snow. On a more positive note... I can't wait for our order to arrive! Hey everyone!!!!!! first off let me apologise for missing one of my censored words in my last post.....I even read the thing over 3 times ...but missed that one...so sorry!!!!

I hope that u all have had a great week and looking forward to the weekend..i know i am..been a busy week!!!! well on with the show...here is what i did with my march kit...enjoy!!!!

this is my card...a quick simple hello to a friend. I hand cut the

flower and glossied some of the details.

I had these pics for a year just waiting for the right paper to come along.

I took the chipboard rings and wrapped the ribbon around to make my

own embellishments. rubbons are from hambley from my own stash.

I still need to get a pic for this one about my weight loss journey, this is also one of the journal prompt pages i did. Painted and inked the chipboard circles.

Last but not least...I hand cut out the letters to make my sub title...i also glossied these letters too. The bingo card is also from my stash.

Well the first picture is of a quote I just liked. I love to travel and think its very sweet. The second is an inspiration mini album i got from Ronnie. The third is a picture of my next months kit being started. And fourth is also a picture of the kit inspiration too. The fourth picture is my favourite. This silly hat was bought for Prestin by my mother from the sally ann. Prestin just loved it. Seems it has made quite a journey with our family and all kids who see it just fall in love with it. To me or anyone else its just a hat, to Prestin its more then a million bucks!!!!. Keep an eye on the blog. Well seems its bedtime for this Meem's. But not before I dont have some scrappy happy!!!!.

Today while I was down at the store I picked up some T!m Holtz alcohol inks. I saw Tammy's T!m tags she had made at convention and loved the inked gears she had made. I am looking forward to making some manly birthday invites for Prestin's 9th birthday coming soon.

I finished my monthly kit and took it down to the store before taking pictures of it to post on the blog. Tomorrow is the recipe swapp for those who participated. I am excited, cause if my creation had to stay in my house for one more night I would have eat them all!.

I have been working on a few small projects that are still NOT completed. Well to end this ramble of a post I'd like to say thank goodness for Family and good Friends.

What is your favorite Season?

For me it is definately spring....i love the freshness still in the air in the morning and evenings....i love the sounds of the song birds in the trees. I love that we get more day time hours, even though it is only one it seems like 3 or 4 some days!!! I love seeing my tulip bud popping thru the snow and dirt, and the crocuses blooming in the snow. I love that i have more energy, for those that have seen Bambi, i believe its call .....twitterpaited". I love that my family wants to be out side more. I love all the new baby animals being born, and spending time out the ranch. Most of all i love spring because of days like yesterday when u can see 3 diffrent weathers in a day....snow, rain and sunshine, and still be out side in just a hoodie!!!

Good morning every one!!!! I'm still recovering from the most amazing weekend ever!!!!! the classes were great...watch for lots of new stuff coming in soon, lots of new inspiration!!!!

here is your prompt for week 11.

JOY...describe it!

Joy to me ...is simple. Its sleeping on a weekend, having someone make me a pot of coffee, having my children clean their rooms with out asking. Joy is seeing the first sign of spring... a robin, or tulip bud popping thru the snow. Joy is spending time with friends, laughing and giggling. Joy is a ice cream hug from your children, It's also hearing them sing behind closed doors, and hearing them laugh from deep inside them.

Joy is getting my hands dirty, whether it is in paint or ink, or in the dirt of my flower beds. Joy is the colours of the rainbow, especially orange!!!

Joy is crawling into bed at nite with cool crisp clean sheets, a little peck on the cheek from hubby, and getting 8 hours of rested sleep.

There are so many more joys that i have in my life, but these are just a few of my favorites...

WOW What a weekend!

Be sure to check the photos on Embellished's Facebook page. We got a ton of them from our weekend in Edmonton at the retailer's convention - including TIM HOLTZ!

It was an amazing weekend - lots of new products, lots of new paper lines from old favourite companies, great classes and ideas, tons of inspiration from all the instructors and companies via class and make and take projects.

Now - for the moment you have all been waiting for.....TIM HOLTZ! What an amazing guy. Seriously witty and one of the most inspirational teachers I have had. As most of you know, I never really got into his products. They intimidated me. I have used a bit of grunge board here and there - but simply painted.

OMG the 2 classes that we took had me down and dirty with Tim. I learned alcohol inks (both colour and metalic), the new paint daubbers (both regular colours and the metalics), grunge, used his dies, distressed inks, the ink tool, stamping (and his new stamps!), resist, his new distressed stains and the list goes on. When we left the classes we were inked, happy and inspired. I can not believe how much we learned in those 2 classes. AMAZING! Thank you Tim! I may have just converted to use a bit more of this and challenge myself to step outside of my comfort zone :)

More kit inspiration!

Hey everyone! It looks like spring may actually come this year! I can't wait! There's still a chill in the air, but the temperatures are on the plus side!
So let me show you what else I made with the kit!
This one here of my daughter is a pretty simple one. I cut out a large heart, and stamped on it with some of Tim's number stamps. I cut out the title by hand from the same pink cardstock. Some of the rick rac alond the bottom and top left. I love the white space left. I threaded some of the tulle through buttons. Everything is kit, except the letter stickers, stamp, and buttons. :)
Another one of my boyfriend and I, lol, could you guess? I love that dotted pattern paper, my favourite of the kit! You can't tell in the picture, but I punched out the circles of the paper, and pop dotted them up. Everything is the kit but the stickers for the title.
And here's my card. I cut out a square, stamped "smile" on it, embossed it with black. More tulle threaded through a button, and then on the pink background. A quick and easy card, my favourite! :)

Hey everyone, are you excited and inspired by the latest kit?

Ready to see what I did with it?

I love Kari's instinct for colours and patterns. She has such a knack for putting together papers and embellishments, don't you think? First up is a picture of my daughter. I stamped and embossed with white powder circles. Punched out some circles from the die-cut folder paper that I loved, sewed down a strip of the cool orange paper on the side as well as sewed down the letter stickers of my title, cut out a flourish-y type of base from the patterned paper I used under the photo, added some rick rack, and finished with some maya road acrylic flowers and brads. All is the kit except the buttons, stamps, flowers, title stickers, and brads... they were from my stash.

Up next is a simple one of me and my boyfriend. Inked the edges of the patterned paper, cut out squares with my pinking shears to give a postage stamp look to the patterened paper, painted the hearts black, stamped some orange circles on the white background, added some ribbon and buttons. All is the kit except the stamps, title stickers, paint, and buttons.
I'll have more to show you later this week! Don't want to overwhelm you all at once! :)

I definitely LOVE LOVE LOVE both of my jobs!!...First as a massage therapist, I love that i am able to help people feel better. I love the social aspect too...i must say that i have the BEST clients in the world!!!!

Kit inspiration from tammy...

So the Feb kit was alot of fun, different from many of the kits that we have had before..... If you remember the kits we had a year ago they were usually all the same paper line with cardstock to match... we this year you are gonna find the kits a little different, they will be mixed paper lines, showing you how u can mix companies together and still make fantastic layouts!!!! they are a little more challenging and will help you think out side the box....

With this card, I did something a little different...i did all double inking, 2 colours..very cute technique!!!

I love this layout of K and her hand made sock money from grandma O...this layout has a new idea for making paper flowers....drop by the store and we can show ya how!!!

To quote my Hubby!!!..... " no one ever remembers a normal picture!!!"

And last but not least!!! This layout says alot!!! My oldest DD deals with Anxiety , ADD, and is hearing impaired on one side...that's alot for a child to carry!!!

You will find this year that i will be scrapping more of raw emotion that goes on in my life. we all scrap the pretty stuff, and the fun events....this year will be different.

This layout is therapy for Az... she now wants the pic so she can scrap about her special needs and put it in her book.

Well the first layout is done (and backwards). The second layout is kind of a funny story. Its started but not completed. Papa is the tilte and in the bottom part it will say "no biting". My dad is always kissing the little grand kids and Aarin gets it the most!. Aarin always thinks my dad is biting him cause the whiskers hurt a bit. He yells at my dad constantly "PAPA, no biting"!!!. Now its a big joke and everyone laughs when he says it!. The third photo is Prestin and I who are headed to vancouver at 3AM. We are taking off just for the weekend just to have some quality time together. I will try to post inspiration from our weekend getaway. If you could do anything in the next 24 hours, what would u do???

First of I would sleep in....in a sweet warm cabin on a nice hot beach somewhere!!!! I mite even spend all day there...but in dream reality..lol...I would spend some time in the sun, on the beach and in the water!!!! then i would do some power shopping in New York (cause i can magically transport myself anywhere). I need some new jeans and clothes that fit!!! after about 5 hours of shopping i would definatly want to eat....it would be a romantic restaurant, with candles, wine, and......Tim & Tim.....yup Mr. Holtz and Mr. Mc graw!!!!!(hey its only a dream..I'm allowed!!!).
Then a nice warm bubble bath , with no interruptions, and into be with 8 solid hours of sleep!!!!

What are your valentines day traditions???

In our house we usually do dinner out, or I make hubby's favorite dinner which is Chicken Enchillada's from the cambell soup cook book. This year we ate out on Sunday nite and had Chinese food!!! We take the girls with us out too.

Hubby always comes home with a dozen roses for me and always 2 single roses for the girls. Usually i get red, but there was no red ones left and I got yellow this year...they are so pretty, especially with the 2 pink in the bouquet. take a look...

I hope that u all had a wonderful Valentines day!!! and got treated by your sweetie!!! I spent all nite in bed!!!!

Take a picture time!

So I mentioned last week that I had a bit of a car accident? Nothing serious, really, but the damage to my P.T. Crusier was expensive. Lesson learned? Carry more than PLPD for insurance. Good news is, I get a new car! And guess what I got??

Another P.T.! This one is a girl (the old one was a boy, named, uh, Petie) and I wanted to name it Repeat, but my daughter veto'd my suggestion, and has dubbed her Stevie. It's a purty red, with heated leather seats, and a sunroof! *swoon!* I've always wanted a sunroof. This one opens either all together, or will vent. Love that feature!! It's an older model, but has very low klicks.
Which brings me to today's post. Your picture challenge for today (or if you tend to procrastinate, later this week, lol) is to take a picture of your ride. Document this, does your vechile have a name? Do you love it? Hate it? Just grateful that it gets you from point A to point B? Do you buy new? Used? You don't have a car? Truck? Van? Sled dogs? Runners? Take a bus? Whatever you use to get you from here to there, take a pic and write some stuff about it!

My hubby, really is my "geek in tinfoil"!!! most days;)!!! He is very loving, caring and strong!!! He is a manly man, big and burly, just like i like em!!!! He is the one i run to when i need a shoulder to cry on, or just need a hug!!! He has a great sense of humor, great personality, and i think we fit together very well!!! He is talented, a cutie and respects that i need gurl time too!!!

I dislike winter...

So my youngest daughter has a snow day today. I think it's the 3rd or 4th one this year? I had a minor car accident on Saturday, and since I needed to take care of some business because of it, I thought I'd take the day off too. I'm ok, my passengers were ok (my oldest daughter and her boyfriend's sister), but my car.... um, not so much. I'm looking into repairs for it. The damage isn't bad bad, but until I have it looked at, I'm not sure if it'll make more sense to repair it, or replace it. Sadly, I now have a fine I have to pay too. My ego is more damaged than anything. Did you know that there is a $287 fine for missing a stop sign? No? Me either, but I do now.

So that's my interesting life news. I'd rather discuss scrappy stuff. Here's a layout I did recently of my sweet nephew, Jack.
This fall we went to a pumpkin festival, and while there, he showed me his dinosaur face. Gotta love 4 year olds! The patterned paper is from Studio Calico. I seriously *heart* that paper! I traced Maya Road chipboard letters onto cardstock for the title. A rub-on went on the bottom right circle. I punched some stars out of double sided sticky tape, and added some glitter. And then I traced a star on the blue patterened paper for a journal block. Ink on the edges of everything, and done!

8:30 realize that i dont have my first massage till 1:00, post on blog and going back to bed for a bit!!!
10:30 alarm set to get up and get ready for work, plan supper
12:00 leave for work, grab a coffee from Tim's
1:00 massage first client
2:15 head home
2:30 home, clean up kitchen
3:30 take the gurls to the west side for singing lessons, head back to work for next client.
4:00 grab coffee from Tim's on the way to work.

6:00 make sure hubby has azlyn ready for basket ballgame tonite

7:30 grab sheets, head home.
7:45 get home, put sheets in the washer, eat supper, make sure there is stuff out for lunches, home work.

Hope that u all had a wonderful weekend!!!! We had 2 birthday parties here for Az, she turned 12 on Friday...where does the time go??? I cant remember life with out them!!!!

With my job as a massage therapist, I cant really wear any jewellery, especially anything on my hands and wrists. Im not really a bling bling girl anyway. At the moment I cant even find my wedding rings....I tucked them away to well...I know that I will find them when I'm not looking for them!!
When I get dressed up to go somewhere my girls like to help me accessorize, usually a necklace and some earrings, and sometimes a bracelet.
I always have my nose ring, and my 2nd holes in my ears with earrings...but usually all ya get!!!!!

hey everyone!!! looks like the weather is gonna get better this week...yeahhhhhh!!!

#3 Do you have any regrets???

Everyday, I try to look back over my day and see if there is anything that needs to be "fixed".If there is i try to get it back to normal with in 24 hours, if i don't, i wont sleep at nite. I usually dream about it, the situation or the person. I like to have balance in my life.
I try to not let things linger so that i dont regret letting something go.
There is ONE thing i do regret, that is...... trying that first cigarette, knowing that i have an addictive personality!!! But this year will the year for better health for myself. I do have a plan to quit, and have a good friend in place to help me to make that happen!!!!( or ill be running naked in the coulee's this summer..lol)
Other than that, rite now i have no other regrets, and hope that i can go thru the rest of my life with none.

Feel like being inspired today? Go grab your camera, and take a picture from or of your back door. I know it's cold out, but suck it up princess, it'll only take a minute.

I've got some amazing frost patterns on the windows of my back door, and instead of worrying about how I should really fix that, I'm enjoying taking pictures of it. The windows look quite pretty really. I'm amazed by the amount of snow we have, even though I shouldn't, cause it is, after all, January. If we had this much snow in say, August, then I'd really have a right to be upset.

So go grab your camera right now, and go take that picture. Don't worry, I'll wait here for you.

Oh good! You're back! How was it? Did you actually go outside?? Yah, I don't blame you.

So now you got this picture, what are you going to do with it?? If you're a scrapper, scrap it! Title ideas? "The view from my door" "Winter Wonderland" "Gag, I hate winter" "Gotta get some better insulation for the door" ...are some ideas that come to my mind.

If you're not a scrapbooker, hang on to that photo, get it printed, and start an album titled, "Random pictures Ronni talked me into taking", cause, you know, I am going to ask you take random photos again this year. Probably eleven more times. If you're scrapping this, you could make up a whole scrappy album dedicated to this too.

hey everyone...just wanted to show you how i'm doing my journal for the art journal...now remember all it takes is really a pen and paper, you dont need anything fancy....

speaking of fancy....i started with the "fancypants" note book.
sorry for the poor quality photo's poor lighting tonite:(

Then i took the 12x 12 pages and cut them in half, rigth in the book so that i would have almost enuff pages to do my whole year...i will have to add 4 half pages later on...and i will show u process as i go.

I used alot of my sticker letters to do the titles of my prompts, and just hand journalled the answer to the prompt....(the reason u see a purple ruler on the bottom half of the page is to hide one of the next prompts...I wont show all my pages but i will throw a few up here and there.

I was baptised Catholic when i was 12 yrs old, I really love celebrating the Mass, I find it very beautiful. I believe that God created the earth and every thing on it. I believe that He sent his only Son to die for our sins.

I try to pray daily, and not just when i "need" something. My morning prayer is ...
God thank you for today, please help me to be a better person today. Bless my thoughts , words and actions, that I may be more like your son, Jesus. Bless my family and friends as they go thru their day, please take care of them.....Amen

I want to have a closer relationship with God and know that all i have to do is open my heart to HIM!!!

So with the start to a new year, I have some new things to tell you...things will be a little different this year, but I do believe that u will all be very surprised and very happy!!!!

This year my commitment to the blog will be done through an Art Journal...I hear so many people say that they never journal on their layouts, well pics can tell most of the story, but journaling will tell the emotion...

Every week i will put up a prompt on what you are journal about and I will put my response, sometimes it maybe raw emotion, and just the truth (unless it is very personal then I will just let u know what I wrote about)...So get yourself a book u can write in, keep this and don't be afraid to use some of this journaling on your layouts.
Also feel free to post your reply back to us, we so love it when u share with us here on the blog!!!

#1) WHAT'S BUGGIN' YA???

What's bugging me today?.... Is how crankified my children are!!! they did not get enough sleep last night...Little do they know they are headed to bed early :)
Another thing buggin me ...THIS SNOW!!! People become so stupid, when the snow flies, it's like their brains go south for the winter!!! We become moody, tired and forget how to drive, grrr it just pi$$es me off...That's whats bugging me today!!!!

Happy New Year!

Morning everyone! Do you make new year resolutions? Several years ago, I resolved to make no more new year resolutions, and so far, so good. Lol. Honestly though, I don't make resolutions per say, but I do look to see what I can do to improve my life, and (surprise!), it's usually scrapbook related. I've done Ali Edward's "One Little Word". I've taken 12 photos on the 12th day of every month. I'm not sure yet what to do for 2011. I'm leaning toward documenting myself at least once a month, which forces me to have pictures of myself taken. If you know me in real life, you'd realize what a challenge this is for me. I'm far more comfortable behind the lens, than in front of it. And my hair and glasses are changed almost daily. Lol.There are some interesting things on the horizon for me. I decided to audition for a play, and I got a part! Yay me! I'll be Mrs. Kirby in "You Can't Take it With You" which is scheduled to show at the end of March. I have an exam to take for my job. I'll be teaching some interesting classes for Embellished! (more information to follow soon, but I'm seriously so excited to be doing my thing, I could die! And I think you'll love it too!) I'm very excited for my future, and I'm glad that I scrapbook so that I can document them. I'm taking you all along for the ride! *grin*
I'm looking into doing some sports in the spring. Gasp! I know! Me and sports, who knew, right? But I'd like to be a little more active this year. I want to do more with my photography. I'm trying to spend more time with my family and friends, and just enjoying being in the moment. I would like to travel a bit more too. My life is great, and I want to share it. :) So here's a few of my photos that I've taken not long ago. My boyfriend and I went on a road trip to Lundbreck, and despite the snow/rain and cold, I got some amazing photos. I love going out there, so much fun. And the company I got to keep was pretty awesome too. :)

The September kit!

I did layouts and a card with this one. I didnt want to stop working with it. I love the colours and the texture of the papers. This is one fun kit. It is addictive for ALL Layouts - not just school themes!

I tried to pull out some school photos to include in them for you to laugh at, but I didnt get time to do that part. Sorry!

I know that u have all seen this LO from me before but here is your challenge.... I want you to "junk up" your layout....when i did this layout i went to my stash and picked out things that were in the colour sceme i wanted and things i havent used in a while ...no matter what i was gonnna use these things on my layout.
so decide ur colour sceme and grab at least 5 things from your stash of goodies, dont be affraid to alter some of them like i did with the domino, and the screen from Maya Road, both of them i changed by adding alchol inks .
On this LO u will find:

hand stamped butterflies on transparencies

old paper bag that had some newspaperlike adds on it.

I have only one niece, and I love taking photos of this little girl. She's very photogenic like all little girls, but she is also sweet and funny and incrediably loveable. I got this photo of her when I was taking photos earlier this summer. The back lighting was fantastic and the picture begged to be in black and white.

I added a little mist to the backround. Punched out some butterflies. I had some sequins kicking around for ages and ages, and they were perfect.

Did you notice the dandelion stamp that was embossed in the lower left corner of the layout?

A better look at the spray mist and butterflies. Just makes me happy when a layout comes together so well. :)

You've seen me do a layout similar to this before, and I liked it so much, I've decided I'm going to do it every month. In fact, it was the basis of my last challenge for you (no patterned paper) And I'm challenging you to try it too.

I wish I could say these questions are mine, but they're not. I found them on the web, and when I find the source, I shall link you up.Regardless, this is your challenge, to do a layout of your "currents". They are: eating. wearing. thinking. weather. wanting. drinking. listening. enjoying. wondering. needing. feeling.

Nothing earth shattering, but I like how I had to stop and think about what was current for me at this moment.

Feel free to have fun with this. I really played up my background and used few embellishements, because I wanted the journalling to stand out. I'm hoping you can double click on it to see it bigger if needed.

Can you believe some of the amazing days we have had lately? The colors are beautiful, and definetly fun to photograph & then of course SCRAP!
Remember some great photo opportunities for October, especially while we get this nice weather!

So seeing as i am talking lots about beautiful colors & days ahead, my challenge to you all is to try & take at least 10 pictures a week of color, things outside, or of things that make you happy.

Sumbit a layout (2 pages) here to the store by November 5th, using pictures from your challenge. Pictures must be current, they must capture color, title, journalling must be done in order to be accepted. I am also going to challenge you to turn at least one picture on your layout to black & white, and you must use at least 10 photos... remember there are some great ways to print smaller pictures.
Now to enter, there will be a $5 entry fee... all money will be given to the winner in form of a gift certificate, for every entry we receive, we will donate another $5, in gift certificate or product, and it will be split between 1st (60% of the collections) & 2nd place (40% of the collections). All entries will remain anonymous, we would like for our customers to vote, (will be done on a point system... 5 questions, with each question awarding so many points... (will explain better come closer too) but in case of a tie our design team will make the final decision.
Pass this along to anyone you know who needs a little challenge & something different to do!
